Dr Hartwig Gerhartinger serves as Vice President, Legal and Regulatory, Deputy General Counsel at Paysafe Group, a leading global provider of end-to-end payment solutions. Consumers use the NETELLER, NET+® Card, Skrill and Skrill Card stored-value offerings as well as the popular Paysafecard prepaid solutions.
Hartwig is a dedicated industry professional and an expert in payment services law and e-money regulation as well as anti-money laundering legislation. In his role, Hartwig advises the business on all regulatory matters as well as upcoming changes to regulatory requirements and defines possible strategies for Paysafe to respond to those changes in the fields of financial regulation, AML and gambling regulation. Further to this, Hartwig is a member of the EU Payment Systems Market Expert Group (PSMEG) advising the European Commission in the area of payments (DG FISMA) and Member to the Board of several industry associations in the prepaid and payments space.
Hartwig holds a doctoral degree in law. He is author and co-author of numerous publications in the fields of e-money and payment services law and is also a requested speaker on the AML and payment services legislation. He worked as Assistant Professor at universities in Austria and Germany, prior to joining Paysafe in 2012.
